MAY 2004 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

I want to thank Ed and Elaine Battistini for chairing another wonderful and successful Scholarship Foundation Dinner-Dance on April 3. As you know, this event entails a lot of hard work, but Ed and Elaine and their wonderful committee of family and friends easily overcame this challenge and made sure that the evening was not only successful, but also exciting and enjoyable for everyone attending. From the beautiful decorations (with fresh flowers donated by Maria Levy), to the delicious food, the exciting raffle and silent auction, and the great music for dancing by the Bob Gutierrez Band, the entire evening was a lot of fun. Thank you, again, Ed and Elaine. A great big thank you also to everyone who donated cash and items for the silent auction and raffle. Special thanks to Greg Menna, Daniel Monaco, the Lou Poletti Family Trust, and the Festa Italiana Committee, who made very significant cash donations to the Scholarship Foundation.

Thank you to everyone who was involved with the delicious baccalá and polenta dinner served at our April general dinner meeting. It was a great dinner! Special thanks to Alfeo Fabbri, Marcello Bonacchi, Gino Nomellini, Lino Carrara, Leno Freschet, and Chef Norman.

I invite you to come and enjoy a wonderful afternoon with your family at the PIASC on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9. On that day we will hold our annual Mother’s Day Dinner to honor our mothers and to celebrate Mother’s Day. Chairpersons are Cliff and Terri Goodwine and Frank and Franca Benvenuto. These chairpersons promise everyone a wonderful dinner and a great time. As in the past, Cliff will present each mother with a beautiful flower or plant. The popular Pasquale Esposito will sing some of your very favorite Italian songs.

On May 15 the PIASC will hold its annual Venetian Night Dinner Dance. The chairpersons for this event are a very enthusiastic young couple, Richard and Holly Borghello. Rich and Holly and their committee are hard at work preparing for this special event. The evening will have a real Venetian theme, with great decorations, a special menu, bottled wine, and the lively music of the Steve Balich Band. Plan on attending and I assure you will have a great time.

Mark you calendar for Saturday, May 22, when the PIASC will hold its annual Festa dei Cacciatori Dinner Dance. The evening will feature exquisite authentic Italian cuisine, dessert, bottled wine, and excellent music for dancing by the Steve Balich Band. Please see the flyer in this Pensogram for more details. The complete price for this package for members and guests is only $25 per person. Chairpersons are Remo Giuntoli and Angelo Fanucchi.

The officers and directors of the PIASC are looking for ways to modernize and beautify the Club even more. Stay turned for further details and information on this subject. Meanwhile, enjoy the month of May and our beautiful spring weather. I hope to see most of you at the above events.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Emil Bagneschi
