Financial
cutbacks in the State of California have affected universities and
colleges. Tuition at a state school such as San Jose or San Francisco
alone has risen an average of $1,400 per student! The scholarship
committee has decided students are going to require more funding
than in the past. With the new increase in college tuition and in
order to achieve equity within the amount of scholarship funds available,
scholarships will be available for first time applicants only. Re-applications
can no longer be accepted. Hopefully in the future, we will be able
to resume this secondary funding. Applications for 2004 are now
in the Peninsula Italian American Social Club office.
Deadline for return is May 1st, no exceptions. Interviews will be
held on Saturday, May 12th, at the club, beginning at 9 AM. All
areas of application process and form must be followed in order
to secure an interview. Best of luck to all.
