Peninsula
Italian American Social Club member Tullio Bertini is organizing
an Italian film festival for the months of June, July and August.
The films will be shown in our new cultural room upstairs directly
above the front bar on certain Monday evenings starting at 7 PM. The films will be in
Italian with English subtitles; everyone is welcome, and admission
is free.

males are off fighting in WWII so some stranded Italian soldiers
partake in la dolce vita for a few years on the island. Sweet memory

THE
ICICLE THIEF**
Ingenious
satire of contemporary commercialism, and disrespect for the art
of film on television, has Director Maurizio Nichettia's bicycle-thief-type
drama being presented with so many commercials that soon no one
can separate the program from the ads, including the actors in the
film. 1989 film direct by Nichetti, Italian, English subtitles.

PADRONE**
Sad,
illiterate Sardinian boy, brutalized by his peasant father, still
grows up to master Greek and Latin and graduate from university.
Based on an autobiographical book by Gavino Ledda. 1977 movie,
Italian (Sardinian dialect in places), English subtitles, 114 minutes.
Films
start at 7 PM. Entrance will be from the small door located to the
right of the main entrance. Door will close at 7:30 PM. After the movie,
if people are interested in discussing the film, in either in Italian
or English, they may stay a while.
