Italian American Social Club member Tullio Bertini is organizing
an Italian film festival for the months of June, July and August.
The films will be shown in our new cultural room upstairs directly
above the front bar on certain Monday evenings starting at 7 PM.
The films will be in Italian with English subtitles; everyone is
welcome, and admission is free.
The
films for June are:
Monday,
June 2nd: Everybody's Fine ****
Giuseppe
Tornatore, director of Cinema Paradiso, follows up with this more
complex film starring Marcello Mastroianni . His role is that of
an elderly widower who decides to travel about Italy seeing his
grown children. 1991 movie, 108 minutes.
Monday,
June 16th: The Monster **
A
small time nobody is mistaken for a sex-crazed serial killer and
stumbles into trouble with the police, Roberto Benigni. 1996, 110
minutes. Not rated, contains sexual humor.
Monday,
June 30th: Generale Della Rovere ****
Vittorio
DeSica gives a first rate performance as a small time swindler who
is arrested by the occupying German army and blackmailed into impersonating
an executed Italian General. 103 minutes, 1957 black/white.
Films
start at 7 PM. Entrance will be from the small door located to the
right of the main entrance. Door will close at 7:30 PM. After the
movie, if people are interested in discussing the film, in either
in Italian or English, they may stay a while.
