OCTOBER 2002 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Special thanks to Larry Parenti and his committee for all their hard work in running another very successful PSC golf tournament, which was followed by a delicious dinner at the PSC. Thank you all for a job well done.  Toscana Night, chaired by Angelo and Angie Fanucchi, was not only a sellout, but also one of the best Toscana Nights ever.  The decorations were magnificent, as were the food and the music.  The entire affair could not have been better. A great big thanks to Angelo, Angie, and the entire committee for a

great evening. We look forward to several major events during October, namely the Columbus Day Italian-American Celebration and Genovese Night.  Both events will take place on Saturday, October 12, the former in Redwood City and the latter at the PSC. The celebration of our Italian heritage begins with a bocce tournament in the morning, followed by three hours of festivities, including a raffle, games, Italian music, singing, food, and beverage in the beautifully-renovated Old San Mateo County Courthouse which houses the Historical Association Museum. On display at the museum for our viewing will also be an exhibit entitled "Gente di Toscana".  We expect a good turnout, including an appearance by Italian Consul General, Hon. Francesco Sciortino. The day will be capped by a beautiful Genovese Night Dinner-Dance at the PSC.  The dinner includes a choice of steak or chicken, ravioli with a special filling made by none other than chairpersons Ubaldo and Alice Siboldi, and a special dessert by Dianda Bakery. Please note that our annual Sicilian Night Dinner-Dance is coming up on Saturday, November 9.  Chairpersons Romolo and Angela Cappello are planning for another great event on that evening.  Because this event traditionally

sells out quickly, we suggest that you order your tickets early. Finally, at the November general meeting we will be holding nominations for Club officers and directors.  We need good people to run.  Please give

serious thought to nominating well-qualified candidates who want to participate in the activities of the Club.  The candidates should be proud of their Italian heritage and traditions and be enthusiastic about wanting to help guide the Club into the future.

Grazie e saluti a tutti,

Emil Bagneschi
