JULY 2002 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

I am pleased to announce that our new bathrooms are finally completed. I want to extend my thanks to all of you for your patience and understanding throughout the construction period and I want to especially thank Mario Viarengo and Lou Janakos for their unselfish dedication to the Club in seeing this major project to completion. Mario was the manager of the project and oversaw the job from conception to completion. Lou assisted with his expertise in construction management and administration. Both of these gentlemen put in an extensive amount of time on our behalf to ensure successful completion, especially Mario, who I am sure also lost some sleep worrying about everything. The job got bigger as we got into it, as most of you know, and was not easy. However, the results speak for themselves. The new bathrooms are just beautiful, and every Club member can be proud and grateful to everyone who was involved with the project. Without Mario's initiative, patience, and perseverance, the bathrooms would not have come out the way they did. Lou's technical knowledge of construction and construction management techniques also contributed tremendously to the success of the project. I also want to acknowledge and thank others for their time and effort on this project, namely Pauline Viarengo and Iris Bagneschi, for lending their decorative touch, and Guido Freschet, Jack Da Dalto, Adi Petrocchi, and Angelo Fanucchi for their input and advice to Mario and Lou throughout the project. Finally, I want to thank the contractor, Peninsula Social Club member Larry Jessup and his construction company, for a fine overall job and for helping us stay within budget on a very challenging project.

Our first Festa dei Cacciatori was a sellout. Congratulations and thanks to co-chairmen Angelo Fanucchi and Remo Giuntoli for a very successful and fun event. Thanks also to all the members of their committee, to everyone who donated the meat for the dinner, and to the two guest chefs for a magnificent job in the kitchen.

I encourage you to attend some of the Festa Italiana events taking place during July at our Club. Then, please join us for our annual Western Night on August 23, our Club Picnic on August 25, and our Peninsula Social Club Golf Tournament and Dinner on September 9. The details for Western Night and the Picnic will be in the next Pensogram.

As we approach July 4th, I hope we all reflect on the greatness of this beautiful country we live in. I hope we also keep in mind our glorious heritage. We should be very proud to be Italian-Americans.

Arrivederci e Grazie, Emil Bagneschi
